Johann Sebastian Bach loved the sound of the lute. The fact that only a handful of his compositions are expressly dedicated to this instrument need come as no surprise however: in the Baroque era it was quite normal to play works on a number of different instruments; even Bach’s lute suites were played right from the beginning on other instruments. With her interpretation on the modern concert guitar, Sharon Isbin joins this tradition and brings the suites to life with sparkling virtuosity, cantabile grace and elegance.
