The immemorial breathe of the Russian pilgrims’ chants
In the religious Russian tradition’s patrimony, there are many old chants of a popular origin, kinds of pious legendary poems, which express specifically the soul of Russian people. These laments, outside of the liturgical use, say again the biblical and liturgical themes, and express the Christian spiritual values.
Moniales de Minsk: This monastery, dedicated to the holy martyr Grand Duchess Élisabeth, was created in 1999 in the suburbs of Minsk: around a hundred of young Orthodox nuns devote themselves to children and psychiatric hospital sick people. Furthermore, this monastery has a great standing thanks to the liturgies recorded by the nuns, and to their various religious art iconography and embroidery activities. These nuns are evidence of a new and powerful breathe in former communist countries.
