“…We work in a very informal spirit, like in a family. There is no snobbery. During their stay here even the great performers forget about their status. We are simply here to make music. It’s very stimulating…”  from Martha Argerich – interview with Madalena Soveral

The thirteenth Progetto Martha Argerich took place in Lugano during June 2014 and once again brought together the Argentinian pianist with a number of her colleagues, some of many years’ standing and with a significant contingent of younger musicians. The aim of the Progetto continues to be to offer opportunities for collegial chamber performance, combining players from across the generations and giving rise to the exchange of ideas that always results from these events. Once again the repertoire ranged far and wide, and the musicianship on offer of the highest quality to be heard; reviews of the resulting three-disc sets recorded at previous editions of the Progetto have remarked not only that the frisson of live performance adds immeasurably to the excitement of these recordings, but also that many of them could stand as reference choices, leaders in their field.

The Progetto Martha Argerich took place in June 2014 in Lugano for the thirteenth consecutive year. Over time, the great Argentine pianist, together with a substantial group of artists, has created a spirit of togetherness that has led to many memorable performances. As a chamber music event, this series has become a laboratory that gives guest artists a chance to prove themselves not only in well-known masterpieces but also in rarely performed repertoire.
