A meticulous perfectionist, the composer Paul Dukas was known to have abandoned many of his musical undertakings, resulting in a relatively limited output of published works. His first great achievement appeared in 1897: L’Apprenti sorcier, a symphonic poem that went on to gain mainstream fame in 1940 when it was featured in the Walt Disney film Fantasia. This collection consolidates the core of his oeuvre in landmark renditions by prominent artists, among them one of his students, the distinguished pianist, chamber musician, composer, and teacher Jean Hubeau.
