Karl Richter (1926–1981) remains one of the most significant figures in post-war Bach performance. This edition brings together his complete recorded legacy for Telefunken-Decca (Teldec) and Ducretet-Thomson, now part of the Warner Classics catalogue. Reflecting his activities as a harpsichordist, organist and conductor, it documents a musician whose repertoire extended beyond Bach, while providing an overview of his work and his place in twentieth-century musical life. Several recordings appear on CD for the first time.
