RECORDINGS FROM 1988-1999
Regarded as one of the most remarkable string quartets in Europe, the Cherubini Quartet was formed in 1978 in Düsseldorf under the patronage of the Amadeus Quartet and Sándor Végh. They performed at prestigious venues across the United States and Europe, received several international prizes, and in 1988 signed an exclusive contract with EMI Classics. The quartet disbanded in 1997, making this boxset a virtual tour of its entire recording legacy. The box also contains the recordings made separately by its members for EMI Classics as instrumentalists (therefore excluding recordings where Christoph Poppen is conducting).
