Introducing… Emmylou Harris The Ballad of Sally Rose

In early 2018 we will release Emmylou Harris The Ballad of Sally Rose. Originally released in February 1985, the album marked a significant departure for Emmylou (whose previous albums had consisted mostly of others' material), as all the songs were written by her and her then-husband Paul Kennerley. It is a concept album, loosely based on Emmylou’s relationship with Gram Parsons. The album tells the story of a character named Sally Rose, a singer whose lover and mentor, a hard-living, hard-drinking musician, is killed while on the road. Dolly Parton and Linda Ronstadt sing harmony on several of the songs, so this is a nice tie into the momentum of the Trio project.
