Der Zeitschritt

After their debut album in 2001 for the Tehnika label, Slovenian deep tech posse Temponauta are striking again with their second brainchild 'Der Zeitschritt’’. If on their first album ‘155.521.981.589.103’ titled after the supposed age of the universe, Temponauta defined their musical methodology, then Der Zeitschritt (Time Step) represents their further exploration of the very nature of evolution (or ageing), the infamous Grandfather Paradox of Applied Temponautics.There are two possibilities to resolve this paradox. The Pedestrian Option states that if the past is totally defined, including the time traveler's attempt to change it, past cannot be altered and nothing will change the course of history. In other words, the time traveler will experience endless mishaps in trying to change past , never achieving his goal, thus keeping time (or at least events) intact. In short, creation is a countdown to inevitable.The second possibility known as Temponautic Option is more complex and involves the quantum rules which govern the subatomic level of the universe. To put it simply, when the time traveler changes the past, he immediately creates a new quantum universe, in essence a parallel universe where the events changed never existed and where our time traveler is never born. However the original universe(s) still remains. To put it even more bluntly, universe is in a state of perpetuating creation, induced by interventions of future selves progressively changing the events (or should we say) speed of their past selves.The soundscapes of Dojaja and Bizzy showcase Applied Temponautics at its best: Music as time travel inducing activity by means of a fractal expansion of musical fragments (time steps) creating parallel echoing of musical universes with gentle rhythmic reminders of the ticking Cosmic Clock,..
