André Verchuren was born in the north of Paris and lived in this region all his life. He probably is the most famous French accordionist! He has got his first accordion at the age of 4, received his first fee at 6, and won the Accordion World Cup at 14!
He revolutionized the accordion playing by performing standing up. As a resistance fighter during World War II, he was deported to Dachau during 14 months. In 1956, he was the first accordion player to perform at the Olympia (Paris) – with the star of the moment Dario Moreno.
This album features the very first, rare and previously unreleased recordings by André Verchuren, eagerly awaited by fans. It also contains tracks sung by Jane Chacun – the only time André Verchuren accompanied a singer.
