Originally released in 1997, this album is a collection of some of the most iconic and emotional songs from Chavela's repertoire.

It includes gems like "Sombras," a beautiful duet with Spanish singer Ana Belén, and "Nosotros," another moving duet with singer-songwriter Joaquín Sabina. These collaborations, along with other songs on the album, highlight special moments in Chavela's career.

Discovered by the legendary José Alfredo Jiménez while singing on the streets of Mexico City, Chavela Vargas created a unique style, transforming Mexican corridos into a new genre. She became a reference both as an artist and an icon of the feminist movement.

Chavela Vargas was an iconic artist recognized for her passionate performance and her ability to convey emotions through her music. She broke stereotypes and became a symbol of strength, independence, and freedom, championing inclusion and love without barriers. Her musical legacy includes iconic songs such as "La Llorona," "El Solitario," "Piensa en mí," and "Un mundo raro."

After being rediscoverd by filmmaker Pedro Almodovar in the 1990s and experiencing an artistic resurgence in Spain at the age of 78, she delighted us with this album, recapping various hits throughout her life, accompanied by great Spanish-speaking artists.

In "Sombras," she presents a moving version accompanied by singer and actress Ana Belén, where Chavela's raw and powerful voice soars over the delicate timbre of the Madrid-born singer.

Another highlight of this album is the ranchera version of the classic "La Bien Pagá." The song, composed by Juan Mostazo and Ramón Perelló, that gained popularity through the singer Miguel de Molina in the film "This Is My Life," presents us with a raw and direct Chavela, creating a unique atmosphere in which only the listener and she are present, capable of stopping time during the four-minute recording.

The song "Nosotros" explores the bittersweet nature of love, reflecting on the persistence of memories and emotions even after the relationship has ended. "Nosotros" reflects the duality between the shared past and loss, expressing how love endures beyond its physical presence. To express the song's full emotional charge, singer-songwriter and poet Joaquín Sabina joined the project. He is renowned for his unique style that fuses singer-songwriter, pop, rock, and protest songs with humor, melancholy, social criticism, and romanticism.

This album also features collaborations with Armando Manzanero, a renowned Mexican singer, actor, and composer. The song chosen for this collaboration is "Encadenados," a romantic ballad that speaks about love and emotional dependence.

Chavela also shares the album with Cuban singer and actress Lucrecia, with whom she performs "No te importa saber," Which speaks of the sorrow of unrequited love, expecting nothing in return.

Quoting director Almodovar, in the text he wrote to bid farewell to Chavela: "No living being ever sang with the anguish of the brilliant José Alfredo Jiménez as Chavela did".
