The Waterboys are a British rock and roll/folk band that was formed in 1983 by Mike Scott, who was the leading force of the band until it disbanded in 1993. During the bands time together, over 70 different musicians have featured on their tours and albums.

This is the Sea is The Waterboys third album. Released in 1985, it is often considered to be their best work and was also their most commercially successful, being the first Waterboys album to enter the UK albums chart. This is the last album in the Waterboys “Big Sound” trilogy, which is how the band described their music at the time and features their biggest hit ‘The Whole of the Moon’.
