Jet Life/Atlantic recording artist Curren$y has announced a wide range of activity surrounding the newly rescheduled release of his hugely anticipated new album. “CANAL STREET CONFIDENTIAL” – which marks the New Orleans-based rapper’s sixth full length and first major label album release in more than three years – drops everywhere on Friday, December 4th.
“CANAL STREET CONFIDENTIAL” sees Curren$y stepping up to stake his claim as one of contemporary hip hop’s finest storytellers and top wordsmiths. Highlights include the scorching “Drive By (Feat. Future)” and “Superstar (Feat. Ty Dolla $ign),” the latter track produced by superstar duo Cool & Dre (French Montana, Lil Wayne, Yo Gotti).
Long known as an electrifying live presence, Curren$y will herald “CANAL STREET CONFIDENTIAL” with a major US tour.“CANAL STREET CONFIDENTIAL” wraps up an incredibly fruitful year that saw Curren$y unleash a series of acclaimed mixtapes, including “CATHEDRAL” and “EVEN MORE SATURDAY NIGHT CAR TUNES,” released earlier this year via Jet Life/Atlantic. Highlighted by five all-new tracks including the lead cut, “Cars,” the mixtape marks the latest installment in the hugely popular “SATURDAY NIGHT CAR TUNES” series.
Hailed far and wide as one of New Orleans hip-hop’s finest, Curren$y arrived in 2002 as a member of the 504 Boys but quickly emerged as an in-demand solo star in his own right. A string of singles, features, and guest appearances were followed by 2009’s independent debut album, “THIS AIN’T NO MIXTAPE,” itself soon followed by 2010’ breakthrough “PILOT TALK,” the first of what has since become a classic hip-hop trilogy.
In 2011, Curren$y – known to fans everywhere as Spitta – founded his Jet Life apparel and lifestyle brand, highlighted by the Warner Bros. Records imprint Jet Life Recordings. “THE STONED IMMACULATE” arrived the following year and proved Curren$y’s biggest success to date. Fueled by hits like “What It Look Like (Feat. Wale)” and “Jet Life (Feat. Wiz Khalifa and Big K.R.I.T.),” the album entered among the top 10 on the SoundScan/Billboard 200 as well as #2 on both Billboard’s “Top Rap Albums” and “Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums” charts.
In addition to his own countless solo efforts, Curren$y has also released a number of acclaimed collaborative collections, including partnerships with Wiz Khalifa, The Alchemist, Sean O’Connell, and of course, the one and only Jet Life crew.
