Mac Miller's cult favorite mixtape Faces is available on all streaming services for the first time since its initial release and is available on vinyl.
In conjunction with the release, Mac's estate is releasing the short film "Making Faces" by Sam Balaban and a new video for mixtape standout "San Francisco," directed by Ruff Mercy. The film contains never before seen footage and interviews that document Mac's creative breakthrough during the recording process of Faces. The "San Francisco" video closely follows the Sam Mason-directed visual for "Colors and Shapes," both of which are included in an audio-visual mixtape commissioned by Malcolm's family and created by a group of 9 visual artists to be shared alongside the release. "Making Faces" is now available here.
Faces originally debuted on Mother's Day 2014 and is a vital release in Mac's catalog that followed-up his critically-acclaimed sophomore album Watching Movies With The Sound Off. Upon its arrival, the mixtape served as the high water mark for Mac's technical prowess and cemented a creative actualization that would continue through his career — reinventing himself with each new project. Reviewing the project following its release, critic Craig Jenkins succinctly described it as "the best work of his career."
