The idea of musically evoking a day or a life inspired me when composing the various songs on Love Day. It starts with the birth of a day or of a human being, simple words (Bonjour, Pourquoi ?), the sounds of life, of birds, of festivities, serene and religious meditation that precedes the twilight of the day or of life. It embraces the ever-present feeling of love for music and for the people who matter to me and accompany me in life… day after day.
For the recording, I chose a mythical place, “Capitol Records Studios” in Los Angeles. The place is still filled with the vibrations of such prestigious artists as Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Count Basie, Quincy Jones and many more who recorded most of their albums there. I called up musicians whom I had met during my musical travels: Charlie Haden (double bass), Gonzalo Rubalcaba (piano), and Mino Cinelu (drums, percussion).
Six days of focus, shared passion, total immersion, far from any material setting, for the realization and creation of Love Day.
