A new compilation from Joni Mitchell featuring some of her proudest recordings. Releasing in April to coincide with Jazz Appreciation Month, this compilation of Joni’s jazz-inflected tracks was envisioned and compiled by the artist herself – a true passion project, years in the making...
Releasing on 8LP, 4CD and digital/streaming, Joni's Jazz features tracks from her entire career-spanning catalogue, including repertoire from releases with other artists and labels. It is a dedication and a love letter to her greatest collaborators in the genre: Charles Mingus, Herbie Hancock, Jaco Pastorious, and Wayne Shorter among them.
JONI: [...] Yeah, I’m going to put that on my [upcoming collection] Joni’s Jazz. It’ll feature everything Wayne Shorter played with me, the spectacular contributions to every song he played on. I mean, just beautiful. People ask me my favorite of my albums, it’s going to be Joni’s Jazz [laughs]. (*From Archives - Volume 4: The Asylum Years (1976-1980) liner notes)
