Lanskega novembra je zasedba Laibach pri angleški založbi Mute objavila svoj dolgo pričakovani album The Sound of Music, za katerega ideja se je porodila ob povabilu skupine v Severno Korejo leta 2015. Album je konec lanskega leta končno ugledal luč sveta na vinilu in obogateni zgoščenki ter tudi kot dodatek blu-ray izdaji dokumentarnega filma Liberation Day. Takoj je požel navdušujoče kritike: recenzije so bile mdr. objavljene v uglednih svetovnih publikacijah, kot so Guardian, Independent in Rolling Stone, New York Times International pa je članek o izidu albuma objavil celo na svoji naslovnici. The Sound of Music je bil uvrščen med najboljših petdeset (The Quietus) oziroma med najboljših petindvajset (Louder Than War) albumov v letu 2018.
Skupina Laibach je od letošnjega februarja do aprila album predstavila v živo na obširni evropski turneji enaintridesetih koncertov. Med drugim je nastopila tudi v znameniti londonski dvorani O2 Shepherd's Bush Empire ter berlinski Admiralspalast. V Sloveniji bo celoviti turnejski program predstavila samo 25. aprila na dveh koncertih v SNG Nova Gorica, medtem ko bo v mariborskem SNG 23. aprila in v ljubljanskem Cankarjevem domu 15. maja nastopila z razširjenim koncertnim programom 'Sound of Music', ki je bil premierno predstavljen lanskega septembra na otvoritvi graškega kulturnega festivala 'steirischer-herbst 2018'. Poleg Marine Martensson in Borisa Benka se bodo skupini na odru pridružili otroški pevski zborček Edelweiss in godalni sekstet Do-Re-Mi, pod taktirko Primoža Hladnika, publiko pa bo uvodoma nagovoril prečastiti Peter Mlakar.
Opozorimo še na znanstveno-fantastično filmsko komedijo 'Iron Sky – The Coming Race' (Jekleno nebo – prihajajoča rasa), za katerega je skupina Laibach pripravila glasbo, ki bo prav tako kmalu prispela v slovenske kinematografe.
