Today, L.A.-based alt-pop duo Haute & Freddy release their highly anticipated debut album Big Disgrace, out now via Atlantic Records. The 13-track project introduces listeners to the duo’s decadent, larger-than-life pop universe — a world where vintage spectacle, underground club culture, and fearless self-expression collide.
In tandem with the album release, the duo also share the official music video for the album’s lead single and focus track, “Showgirl At Heart,” directed by Sam Hayes. Known for their cinematic, high-concept visuals and flair for theatrical spectacle, Haute & Freddy continue to expand their meticulously crafted visual universe with the new video.
“’Showgirl At Heart’ is about that moment when you wonder if you missed your shot — and then finding a place where the dream still exists,” share Haute & Freddy. “The Velvet Hall is this little world we made up where you’re fearless and cheered on. Even if it’s just for the night, it’s real.”
The album itself fully embraces the duo’s signature blend of drama, glamour, and unapologetic individuality.
“Big Disgrace is all the eccentric, over-the-top parts of ourselves we thought we had to hide, on full display,” Haute & Freddy explain. “Like a sonic topless shimmy where said shimmier holds direct eye contact with the one person in the room giving a judgmental scowl.”
Hailed by SPIN for their “finely honed songcraft” and “alt-pop spectacle,” Haute & Freddy have quickly emerged as one of pop’s most exciting new acts, earning recognition from Rolling Stone as an “Artist You Need To Know,” who lauded the album for its “soaring Eighties synths and sentiments of freedom,” adding “It’s the kind of offering that celebrates the madness and the beauty we hold close, the parts of ourselves that rarely see the sun.” and landing on People’s list of emerging artists to watch. Comprised of Michelle Buzz and Lance Shipp, the duo blend theatrical flair, underground club culture, and synth-driven maximalism into a bold alt-pop universe that has inspired a devoted fan community known as “The Royal Court.”
Following their breakout 2024 debut “Scantily Clad,” praised by PAPER as “an outsider’s fantasy that reads like a dream sequence,” Haute & Freddy continued their ascent with fan favorites including “Anti-Superstar,” “Fashion Over Function,” “Shy Girl,” and “Sophie.” Most recently, the duo released the gothic pop anthem “Freaks,” which Billboard hailed as an “irresistible” and “maximalist pop anthem” celebrating individuality and joyful rebellion.
With the release of Big Disgrace, Haute & Freddy now prepare to take their theatrical world to the stage with Haute & Freddy’s Big Disgrace Tour, kicking off with two dates in London, May 11 and May 12 before heading across Europe and North America. The North American run begins with festival appearances at Treefort Music Fest and Lightning in a Bottle, followed by headline shows across major cities including New York (with a second show added this week, due to demand), Toronto, Boston, Atlanta, Nashville, Denver, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Detroit and more. Additional festival appearances include The Great Escape, London Calling, Hinterland, Outside Lands, and Capitol Hill Block Party.
To celebrate the album’s release, Haute & Freddy will host two immersive fan experiences in New York City on Sunday, March 15. The day begins with Haute & Freddy’s Runaway Cart at Warsaw in Brooklyn (261 Driggs Ave) from 12 PM to 2 PM, featuring a meet-and-greet, photo opportunities, exclusive merchandise, and no-fee physical tickets for the band’s upcoming New York stops on the Big Disgrace Tour. Later that evening, the duo will bring the New York City debut of Haute & Freddy’s Big Disgrace Playhouse to the Hidden Jewel Box Theater inside the Port Authority Bus Terminal (625 8th Ave), with performances at 6:30 PM and 8:00 PM. Both events are open to all ages, with early arrival encouraged.
With Big Disgrace now out in the world, Haute & Freddy are ushering in a new era of theatrical pop — bold, decadent, and defiantly themselves.
