Theophilus London has released his highly-anticipated sophomore album Vibes! executive produced by Kanye West.
The 12-song LP is executive produced by the Grammy award-winning cultural icon. “Kanye West decided he wanted to help the culture through my voice and music,” recalls Theophilus. “He wanted to help me become a better musician and helped mentor me during the process of Vibes! He agreed to be Executive Producer after hearing ‘Neu Law’ in his car system while driving through Paris.”
Along with Theophilus London, Leon Ware serves as the creative producer for the new album. Leon is responsible for some of the great moments in soul music – including Marvin Gaye’s classic I Want You and Michael Jackson’s first gold record “I Wanna Be Where You Are” – and has worked with legendary artists such as The Isley Brothers, Ike and Tina, Diana Ross, Quincy Jones, Minnie Riperton and Maxwell. “Leon is one of my favorite producers. He came to Palm Springs and decided
to be a part of the project after hearing the Vibes! demo.”
Over the past two years, Vibes! was recorded in Paris, New York and Germany and fully produced in Palm Springs, California. “The name came from the sign of the times. Kids want vibes, so Vibes! it is,” explains Theophilus. “This is the first album that I produced and mixed my own music and vision. It’s a soulful, progressive, cold-wave that’s smooth as fuck. It’s smart, sexy, post-punk club music that’s island influenced. It’s forever, man.”
