The World Is A Ghetto was a sensation upon its release, building on WAR’s growing reputation as a singular band combining influences from Latin, Funk, R&B, and rock traditions into something wholly original. The World is a Ghetto was certified Gold in 1972 and was the top selling album in the United States in 1973, a feat recognized by Billboard at the time.  

The World is a Ghetto 50th Anniversary Collector’s Edition is a wholly unique journey curated by WAR producer Jerry Goldstein, featuring the original record, six brand-new, never before released tracks from the WIAG Sessions, and the making of the original record, track by track, so fans can go on the entire journey from jam to song. The liner notes feature a transcribed and edited conversation between Jerry Goldstein and singer Lonnie Jordan, the only member of the band who has remained throughout the group’s entire history.
