Jethro Tull are a progressive rock band led by multi-instrumentalist frontman Ian Anderson, famed for his flute playing. In a career spanning more than 40 years they have sold in excess of 60 million albums worldwide. Benefit, Jethro Tull’s third album, first released in April 1970 it is one of their best known albums alongside the likes of Aqualung and Thick as a Brick.

Their music is marked by the initially soulful and bluesy, and later expressively idiosyncratic, vocal style and unique lead flute work of frontman Ian Anderson; and by unusual and often complex song construction. Their music, though starting with blues rock with an experimental flavour, has incorporated elements of classical and celtic folk music, as well as art rock and alternative rock.
