Finding Wildflowers contains alternate takes from Tom Petty’soriginal Wildflowers album. The 16 tracks were previouslyreleased on the 9 LP and 5 CD super-deluxe formats ofWildflowers & All the Rest last year, but have not been previouslyavailable on streaming platforms.Finding Wildflowers will be announced on Thursday, March 4that 7am PT / 10am ET with the album pre-order launch and therelease of a Petty original song, “You Saw Me Coming”, which ismaking its digital debut alongside the release of an official video.The Finding Wildflowers album will be released on Friday, April16th on limited edition gold vinyl, exclusively for indie retail storesand tompetty.com, CD and digital, along with an official video for“Driving Down to Georgia”. This will be the first time a studiorecording of “Driving Down to Georgia” will be released andavailable digitally. Finding Wildflowers will then be released on black vinyl on Friday, May 7th.
Finding Wildflowers (Alternate Versions) features 16 studio recordings of alternate takes, long cuts and jam versions of Wildflowers songs as Tom, band members and co-producer Rick Rubin worked to finalize the album in 1994. The release offers fans further deep access into the writing and recording of Wildflowers, as well as realizing the full vision of the project as Tom had always intended.
