Firmly established as one of the biggest bands in the UK following the amazing success of their 2009 album ‘Only Revolutions’ which peaked at #3 on its way to over 600,000 sales, Biffy Clyro will release their new album ‘Opposites’ on January 28th on 14th Floor Records.
Biffy Clyro’s touring in support of ‘Only Revolutions’ saw them elevated to arena and festival headlining status as they played three sold-out UK tours which included a landmark show at Wembley Arena. Their status as one of Britain’s most exciting bands was reflected with Best Live Band awards from both NME and Q in 2011.
The band have already showcased ‘Opposites’ with special club shows in Germany, Sweden and Norway which all sold out in record time and have been packed with devoted fans. Further dates are now scheduled in Paris, Amsterdam, New York and Los Angeles. Regarded as one of the highlights of this year’s festival season following sets at Download, Rockness, Isle of Wight and iTunes, these shows offer a rare chance to see a seasoned live band in an intimate environment.
Biffy Clyro will play an eleven-date UK and Ireland arena tour in March that includes a date at London’s O2 Arena. They will then embark upon a full global tour which commences in the Spring.
Produced by GGGarth Richardson (Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against The Machine) in Los Angeles, ‘Opposites’ finds Biffy Clyro delivering on their growing ambition with their most varied and unpredictable album to date. As vocalist/guitarist Simon Neil told Q: “Our mission statement with this record was: don’t be scared of anything.”
Recent weeks have seen the band unveil Storm Thorgerson’s artwork to ‘Opposites’ with the help of Twitter, and they also completed a special one-day double-bill of sessions for Radio 1 by playing Fearne Cotton’s Live Lounge in the morning before hitting Zane Lowe’s Radio 1 Rocks in the evening. This week has also seen Biffy Clyro perform a live set for ‘Later… with Jools Holland’ while Zane Lowe premiered ‘Black Chandelier’ on his Radio 1 show.
