The Wall was conceived as a multi-media platform, including a feature film, and in due course Pink Floyd The Wall was released. Extra material written for the film was originally to be compiled as Spare Bricks, and this mutated into The Final Cut.
Roger Waters wrote every song, and Richard Wright was not included, having left the band during the Wall sessions (returning for A Momentary Lapse Of Reason). The Final Cut was described by David Quantick in UK’s UnCut magazine as “a cogent and furious collection of completely personal and also universal songs”.
The album charted at #1 in the UK and reached #6 in the US, as well as topping the charts in Italy, Norway, Sweden and Germany. A remastered version was released in 2004, adding an extra track When The Tigers Broke Free, which is also included in this vinyl reissue. Includes: When The Tigers Broke Free, Not Now John
