ZKP RTV Slovenia, in cooperation with Milan Mladenović's Zadužbina, has re-released the vinyl album Katarina II by the eponymous Belgrade rock band, which was renamed Ekatarina Velika a few months later. Katarina II is the band's first album, released in 1984 by ZKP RTV Slovenia in a limited edition of 3,000 copies. Although the compositions were written over a period of almost two years, with constant line-up changes, this album defined the musical principles that the band would adhere to throughout their career: specific poetic expression, tight melodic structures, instrumental superiority and a high energy charge typical of all the great bands of the post-punk era.. The album was created by Milan Mladenović, who also wrote most of the lyrics, Margita Stefanović, Bojan Pečar, Dragoslav Mihajlović - Gagi and Ivan Vdović - Vd with guests Mario Čelik on congas and saxophonist Jurij Novoselić from the band Film.

"All the songs have a melancholic tone in common, which is a consequence of the times we live in. The lyrics are very personal, they are experienced truths. In some of the songs we used a 'camp approach', an ironic attitude. Some expressions are so widespread in our country that no matter how pure they are, they become bland and banal because of their frequent use. Their value is lost. To avoid this, we use irony. This is more killing," Mladenović said of the album in 1984. The album was voted one of the top five albums of the year by critics and readers of the Yugoslav magazine Rock, and was ranked in the top 30 of the Croatian edition of Rolling Stone's list of the 100 best albums of the former Yugoslavia, based on the ratings of music critics from across the region.
