Long out of print, Echo & the Bunnymen are to reissue their first five albums plus their best of, Songs to Learn & Sing, on CD. Out on 5th September, the newly repackaged CDs in card sleeves are available to pre-order now.

Crocodiles is the debut album from Echo & the Bunnymen. Originally released in 1980 amid the growing wave of post-punk, it cemented the band amongst the best around, with the NME at the time describing it as “probably the best album this year by a British band” and featuring amongst many greatest ever debut album lists. Crocodiles reached the top 20 in UK charts and has since been certified gold in their home country.

Heaven Up Here became the band’s first top 10 in the UK charts and their first US chart entry after its release in 1981. Heaven Up Here’s strength is the way in which Bunnymen seamlessly work together to shape each song’s dynamics, even the album’s lone single, A Promise, is hardly light, pop material.

The album artwork was shot by frequent collaborator Brian Griffin, on a beach in the South Wales town of Porthcawl and won the Best Dressed LP at the 1981 NME Awards. Seen as a darker album to their debut, the album was well-received by fans and press alike, cementing their cult status in the UK. It won the 1981 NME Best Album award and ranks amongst Rolling Stone’s 500 greatest albums of all time.

Porcupine was originally released in 1983 with Ian Broudie (Kingbird), returning to production duties having produced Rescue and Pride on their debut album. The Back of Love and The Cutter gave the group their first U.K. singles chart success, Porcupine hit charts across the world including a #2 spot in the UK where the album has also been certified gold.

Ocean Rain celebrated its 40th anniversary last year and produced three classic singles Silver, Seven Seas and the massive anthem The Killing Moon, which continues to transcend generations to this day. It routinely features in films and television shows such as Stranger Things and Donnie Darko. The album sustained the band’s cult status and received 5* reviews from press. Ocean Rain was another album to chart globally and receive gold status in the UK.

Songs to Learn and Sing is the highly regarded compilation album by Echo & The Bunnymen. It was released in 1985 and praised for its strong track selection, showcasing the band's evolution and its excellent sound quality. It includes songs in chronological order taken from the band's four studio albums that had been released up to that point, as well as the previously unreleased Bring On the Dancing Horses and the non-album singles The Puppet and Never Stop. It was reviewed as a comprehensive collection of the band's material and reached #6 on the UK chart with gold certification.

Echo & the Bunnymen is the fifth studio album from the band which was released in 1987 and produced the singles The Game, Lips Like Sugar and Bedbugs and Ballyhoo. They’d made more use of keyboards than their previous studio albums, which had been string-heavy and although the album contained hook-heavy tracks such as Lips Like Sugar, the guitars on tracks such as Lost and Found are more representative of the album as a whole.
