Jethro Tull’s 'Aqualung’ and 'War Child' are to be the first two releases from a brand new Blu-Ray Audio album series from the band. Each release contains brand new remixes by Stephen Wilson in Atmos, 5.1, Stereo, instrumentals and the original 1974 quadrephonic mixes.

Both are released on 11 September and are available for pre-order.

Originally released in 1971, ‘Aqualung’ is the the band’s celebrated fourth studio album and a vitally important album in the pantheon on Progressive rock. Upon release the album was seen as an expansion of the traditional Jethro Tull sound blending heavier rock with gentler acoustic moments. It was met with critical and commercial acclaim, elevating the band globally with a greater presence on radio that would lead to them playing larger arenas. Over the 55 years since its original release, the importance of the album has become ever more apparent and continues to be a regular fixture in Greatest Albums Of All Time lists from the likes of Rolling Stone, Q, Classic Rock, Prog and more.

‘War Child’, the band's seventh album was seen as a successful pivot back to concise, radio-friendly tracks following the band's sprawling 1973 album ‘A Passion Play’. Released in 1974 it was met with mixed reviews but peaked at number two in the US Billboard 200 and broke into top 10s globally. On reassessment of the album, it is widely regarded as a vital moment in the band and Ian Anderson’s songwriting. Whilst still stretching to boundaries of perceived traditional structures, it saw the band coming back closer to their more traditional roots and is seen as a key moment in the bands catalogue.

Jethro Tull Jethro Tull
Blackpool, Lancashire, England (1967 – present) Jethro Tull is a progressive rock / folk rock band which formed in Blackpool, Lancashire, England in 1967. Their music is marked by the initially soulful and bluesy, and later expressively idiosyncratic, vocal style and unique lead flute work of frontman Ian Anderson; and by unusual and often complex song construction. Their music, though starting with blues rock with an experimental flavour, has incorporated elements of classical and celtic folk music, as well as art rock and alternative rock. Anderson has attributed the marked difference between their music and the music of their contemporaries to the group’s avoidance of narcotics. ...
