Park Chan-wook's Oldboy was released in 2003 and immediately became a cult masterpiece: it won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Festival and many Asian festival prizes. This one is part of the director's "Vengeance Trilogy" (with "Sympathy for Mr. Vengeance" and "Lady Vengeance"). It reminds us that Korean cinema is so visionary and full of style. It was praised by occidental director such as Quentin Tarantino and Nicolas Winding Refn.

Oldboy's soundtrack was composed by Korean composer Cho Young-wuk: this sublime neo-classical score perfectly fits the thriller film noir mood of the film, between extra-violence and oneirism.
