  1. Sanjam

He has a strong background in music and has worked hard to get where he is now. This 24-year old from the capital of Slovenia, Ljubljana, fell in love with music whilst still at primary school. After two years of singing in a youth choir whilst at high school, he started taking singing lessons and continued with them for four years. It was not long before he discovered his love for harmony and composition, something that shines through in the many strong songs on his first album. While developing his skills, he started his own rock band, Kareem. The band has had a few small changes in its line-up, but today is Omar's backing band.Omar actually finished school and became a dental technician, however he wasn't satisfied in the job, so he decided to continue studies, this time in tourism. At college, he met some professional musicians and after learning that he could actually make a living from music, he quit school and concentrated on his real love, music. He entered a young talent show, screened on national TV, at the end of last year; he was declared the winner, picking up the biggest televote ever recorded in Slovenia. At the end of 2004 his first single Vse, kar si želiš (Sunny Day) was released and so far, it remains the biggest selling single of 2005 in Slovenia. At the beginning of February Omar entered the Ema festival, where he once again confirmed his star status by winning the hearts of Slovenian audience and beating fierce competition to win with his song Stop (On My Own). He will represent Slovenia at the 2005 Eurovision Song Contest. His first album, entitled simply 'Omar', followed in mid February and went straight to number one. It has been at the top of the charts since (at the time of writing, the Omar is enjoying his seventh consecutive week at number one, more than any other album this year). It is already the best-selling album of the year.Needless to say Omar will not 'Stop'!He is already planning a new single... one that, he says, will be even better than the two massive hits he already has under his wings!
